Tasting Note

This is a superb example Sicilys Nerello Mescalese grape, grown on the northern slope of Mount Etnas mineral rich volcanic soil. The aroma is very fine and delicate with expressive notes of small redcurrant and cherry fruits, wild spices, herbs and cloves. On the palate it is balanced and harmonious, well structured, with minerality on the savoury and persistent finish.

This is delicious now and has the potential to age for up to 10 years.

Massimo Lentsch are committed to practicing a craftsman-like form of viticulture, taking meticulous care of every single vine, so as to give expression to all the nuances of their generous and complex soil. They interpret progress as an instrument that can preserve and enhance their natural surroundings, while maintaining their identity and their environment.

Manually harvested grapes are partially de-stemmed and fermented by the indigenous yeasts, with a 15 days maceration of the wine with the skins. The wine is aged for about 12 months in oak barrels, then its moved into a steel tank where it is decanted naturally and bottled without any clarification or filtration process and stored for a further 6 months before release.
